Ryan Gosling is Leading the Charge in ‘Project Hail Mary’: Sandra Huller Joins the Star-Studded Cast
Ryan Gosling is set to star in the upcoming space-set thriller ‘Project Hail Mary’, and he’s got some stellar company joining him on this interstellar journey. Sandra Huller, known for her role in ‘Anatomy of a Fall’, has signed up to feature alongside Gosling in the film, which is directed by the acclaimed duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.
Based on Andy Weir’s 2021 novel of the same name, ‘Project Hail Mary’ tells the story of middle school science teacher Ryland Grace (Gosling), who wakes up on a spaceship with no memory of who he is or how he got there. With his mission to save Earth from catastrophe hanging precariously in the balance, Gosling’s character must rely on his wits to complete his interstellar mission alone. That is, until he encounters a mysterious alien who has traveled light years to save his own species from a similar fate.
The film is set to hit theaters in March 2026, with Lord and Miller at the helm, drawing inspiration from Weir’s bestselling novel. The script was penned by Drew Goddard, with Amy Pascal producing through her Pascal Pictures company and Gosling himself producing through his General Admission banner.
Huller, 46, also appeared in the Holocaust drama ‘The Zone of Interest’, and shared her hopes that the unique production style of the film could serve as a template for other movies in the future. In an interview, she praised the way the film was produced, where the cast and crew spent extended periods alone in a house with minimal interruptions, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in their roles.
“It was very special, being alone with this creature around you,” Huller recalled. “I’m very curious to see if more people will work that way in the future because you can cut out all the things you don’t like about filmmaking.” With her addition to the cast, ‘Project Hail Mary’ is shaping up to be a thrilling and unforgettable cinematic experience. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated film.
